Living in Seattle, we love rain for all the beauty it brings to our region but it can be a little inconvenient for things like outdoor photoshoots, so I’ve compiled a list of what we can do if rain is in the forecast for your session time.
Be flexible on timing. The most popular choice for my clients has been to chose an alternate start time. I’ve found it’s rare to have non-stop rain all day long here in Seattle so if you’re able to leave the session day relatively open we can work around the rain and avoid rescheduling.
Do the session in your home. I love in home sessions and can find great light in just about any house. A bonus to shooting at home is that we usually have time for an out fit change!
Shoot in studio. This is a great option but keep in mind it’ll be based on availability & will be an additional cost due to studio rental fees.
Shoot at one of my semi-covered rainy day locations. I have a few rainy day options with pretty covered spots.
Work the rain into the photoshoot. I have lots of clear umbrellas to bring along and kiddos stomping in puddles makes for really cute photos. See evidence of rainy cuteness below.
Reschedule. Keep in mind that we can’t guarantee the new date will have better weather so I highly recommend using this as a last resort but it’s always an option!
